Its an Ambigram, spin it. Tell me what you think.

You may have noticed that I have not updated this site for months. Reason? Well I’ve been busy and also I’ve become immersed in all the web+social+2.0 hype. So really I have been updating, just not here, instead on tumblr, twitter, flickr, facebook, etc. Video games, mountain biking, and an expanding list of clientele has also kept me from updating, though I don’t blame them.

With that said, there is some point to this post. Which is to inform all those that come here, that I’m currently in the process of updating my portfolio. Like new version, new works, new effects, though I am keeping the colors(plus some new ones). Want to see what I have so far? Well tooo bad, I’m just not ready yet. I will say that if you are savvy, you might be able to stumble on my test server on edwardrock.com

Check back soon! I promise, good stuff.

Is it a coincidence that I have waited 5 months to write my 5th review? No. Was I expecting to write it anytime soon? No. Did I run across Dan Mumford’s work this morning, and immediately began collecting screen shots of this work to write a review about. Hell Yes! I mean, who could pass up work with such detail from an up and coming artist? Speaking of detail, I’m not going to go into to much as to why I like him, his work speaks(..Yells) for itself.

Info about the artist.

Dan Mumford is a 23 year old male illustrator/designer/rock star, “with an obsession for drawing hands, hair and tentacles”, who resides out of Bethnal Green, London, UK.

What happened? Sites down, no updates, no new music, nothing, nothing, nothing...?

Well lets recap as to why there has been no signs of life on edwardrock.com since August.

Issue #1: edwardrock.com is offline
A bit of site info to get you started, first the site is hosted at Dreamhost, which is great. The reason for telling you this though, is the my domain is NOT hosted there. Stupid I know, but once I explain where it’s hosted, you might better understand. So? What is the name of this horrible domain hosting company. Registerfly. Yeah, back in the day when I first registered edwardrock.com, I had no idea how much of a pain in the ass this company was. Well like many out there, my domain was sold off, and then sold off again. Currently I have it back, though I cannot bring it over to dreamhost yet. It’s safe, but not as safe as it could be and I’m working on that.

there is more after the cut!!

Not yet, though had some close times. Life has been incredibly busy for me lately, and that has left the site once again collecting cobwebs. Even so, this site is on my mind all the time, and I’ve come to the conclusion that once again it needs a re-design. I’ve already started work on the next version..

highlights? sneak preview? hints? cheat codes? you ask??

Well so far its 100% (I am going to separate this blog and my work sections) flash, so far 700+lines of actionscript, with another 800more till completion. The work section will be the more predominant section, blog being second, which will include the music blog.

      <dc:subject>Featured, Artist</dc:subject>

Here we are again for another artist review, for my fourth review I chose artist Jeff Soto, and as you will see below, there are many many reason to choose such an artist. Some of the unique qualities of Jeff’s artwork would be, first and foremost (for myself at least) his unique/uncanny color pallet which is used in all of his paintings. The second quality I would choose would be his distinct character designs, and their blend of both mechanical and natural features. I could continue going on about all of the things I find to be amazing throughout Jeff’s massive about of works. Rather than describing all of these qualities, I would much rather you see them for yourselves, and with that I present to you a small selection of Jeff Soto’s art.

Info about the artist.

Jeff Soto is a 31 year old male painter/artist/creative guy who resides out of Riverside, CA. with his wife Jennifer and daughter Shannon. He is a graduate (with Distinction) from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.

      <dc:subject>Personal, Projects</dc:subject>

It’s been much to long since my last update, and I can say that the reason for this has been..well, because I’ve been busy. “Busy with what?”, you might ask, well that’s the point of this post. With that said, here is a sneak preview of a website I’ve been working on, that is almost ready to launch(it really is, I’m just waiting on content!!).

makeupage which is a portfolio website for my friend Stephanie Circhirillo who is a make-up artist

This is is built 100% in flash, fed by xml, and is completely dynamic to the content loaded into it(width, height, color, text content).
I hope to have the rest of the content needed to finish the site, and get it uploaded asap.

Also there will be a new Artist Feature by the end of this week, along with some song reviews, so please check back!

This third artist feature is on the ever so creative works of Drout750. I wasn’t able to find much on this artist in terms of personal information (name, dob, schools attended), however as you will soon see, his work speaks wonders. <dc:subject>Featured, Artist</dc:subject>

For my second artist feature I chose again to do it on an amazing female artist Aya Kato. I chose this artist not knowing much at all about her, though I had seen some works before (on a side note, I had added some of Aya’s images to my ”neat” folder, in which I have an ongoing collection of imagery that I find beautiful). With that said, I know present you a small sampling of the works of Aya Kato.

Info about the artist.

Aya Kato is a 25 year old female artist out of Japan, who studied Visual Art Education and Graphic Design at the Aichi University of Education. Some of her most notible works include artwork for a Microsoft WindowsXP TV Commercial and the music video for Tori Amos’s song “Sleeps with Butterflies”, in which it featured digital recreations of some of Aya’s works merged with Tori as the subject. Her style is uncanny blend of dark Art Nouveau and Manga/Japanese pop art
