Hell yeah, another great mash-up by the guys over at/in Car Stereo (Wars). This round they go into so many different music types. I love how they incorporated the chronicles of narnia skit from snl. Overall another amazing mix of tons of music. Love it!

Foo Fighters - The Pretender

It was only last night, when I was talking about how freaking excited about the new Foo Fighters album (Echos, Silence, Patience And Grace). Also noting how the extremely talented/beautiful/wonderful/ Khaki King will be unveiling a duet with Dave. It is truly hard to contain myself... really I might just explode. Then what happens? I wake up to find the new single from the album buzzing around the internets. Amazing, with that here is the new single, and in the words of Nick Swardson from Grandma's Boy..."Yeah, let's fuckin' rage!"

Trail of Dead - Wasted State of Mind

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead is a rock band out of Austin, Texas, with a very eclectic sampling of music for your taste buds. Wasted State of Mind starts off with an extremely fast percussion track, of which the exact instrument, I'm still trying to figure out. I believe it's a Krin aka (Slit Drum), though I'm not 100% sure. Next comes a very slow melodic piano (bass), on top of that, even more piano, drumset, and guitar. Take a listen and see for yourself how well Trail of Dead layers their music and creates this beauty of a song.

Yann Tiersen - Comptine d’un autre été: l’après midi

Another song by Yann Tiersen, again one that I feel my description would do no justice for. On a side note, I would like to thank my wonderful girlfriend for introducing this artist/album to me. Hearing her play it, is by far one of the most breathtaking/emotional things I've ever seen/heard. She has no idea, but it really effected me a lot, and is something i'll never forget. Enjoy

Yann Tiersen - La valse d’Amélie (piano version)

Even as I write this, parts of my brain are trying in anyway shape or form, to come up with even the most minute way of describing the beauty of Yann Tiersen's song writing. I myself feel that there is nothing I can say that could better describe this song, than just listening to it, and allowing it to effect you (hopefully) in all the ways it has effected me.

Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass

Free! Hip-hop! Free? Yep, the guys over at Adult Swim (plus Def Jux) just* released another AMAZING compilation featuring some unique/fun tracks, laid down by some great artists, El-P, Mr Lif and Cannibal Ox, Cage, just to name a few. None Shall Pass is just one of ten, that can be downloaded for free here (http://www.adultswim.com/williams/music/defswim/index.html) Now about this song, like many of Aesop Rock's songs, this one delivers quite the story, with just the right blend of melodic beats and synth. I really enjoy how simplicity of the song, and its accompanying "piano/marimba" beat. Quick Fact: None Shall Pass is also the tentative name of Aesop's soon to be latest album(it was announced in April of '06 that it was in the works). *and by just I mean, in February..I knew about it then, but was too busy listening to it to post about it, I swear!

The Offspring - Gone Away

If I had to whittle down to say, "The Top 5 bands that have influenced my life, musical choices, and all around LOVE for music". The Offspring would be in that list, they have been with me since 1992, and have never let go. As for this song, I find it to be one of the deepest songs Dexter Holland has ever wrote. It's an extremely emotional song, yet carries all of the distinct attributes that make up the band. I look forward to their next album release (hopefully) this summer, and am loving the childhood memories that this band brings back to me.

José González - Crosses

"Don't you know that I'll be around to guide you..Through your weakest moments to leave them behind you", José presents us here again with another amazing/beautiful song, filled with meaning, and mystery. I have been listening to this song all day, I cant get enough of it, it's one of those songs that I know I need to share with someone. Luckily, as fate would have it, my life is heading towards a direction in which I can fulfill that need. Hope she likes it.

Radiohead - Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd)

Sad song, probably not the best way to start of the new year. I listen to this song, and think of how things could have been. How life can change things, change people, places. Such a beautiful song, Radiohead did a great job covering such a monumental song/band.

Weezer - El Scorcho

"I'm a lot like you so please, Hello, I'm here, I'm waiting.." they make it sound so easy! MMMMmmm Weezer, talk about memories, I remember being in 10th grade, listening to the Blue Album on the bleachers while watching the girls volleyball team practice. Amazing I know. Those where the days, life was so simple, and what do you know so is this song. Another memory I have is my buddy playing this either at my house or at a show, acoustic, it was great. Good times.

Kaki King - Yellowcake

Kaki King, is one of those musicians that you look at in utter disbelief, every time you see them perform. She is an extremely diverse musician, who (if your lucky to see) will combine her talents into 1 performance. If you are not so lucky, check it out on youTube. Her mix of flamenco guitar, folk, and upbeat drumming/percussion is magical. It is very hard to describe, so please listen to the song, and go to her web page. Make sure to watch her video's, I guarantee it's not only a sight for the eyes, but something even more entrancing for the ears.

Sponge - Plowed

I loved this song in 1994, and I still love it. I remember it being on pretty much every dirtbike/extreme sport videos for about 2 years running. Those were the days.

Foo Fighters - My Hero

Awe-inspiring!! That is my reaction so far to the new Foo Fighters album Skin And Bones. This remake of my hero (which already happens to be my favorite song) is by far one of the most beautiful sounding songs I've heard from the band. The original version of the song, is amazing on it's own, somehow they made it even better. It is really hard to describe, just listen and be blown away.

Eskiimo - Halloween Mixtape

Hooray for halloween!! Todays post is a mix/mashup from a very interesting indie pop act out of the UK. Listen close as there are a bunch of pop songs/horror film clips laid out through this track.The mix is 13mins long so it might take a bit to load.

Incubus - Anna-Molly

The latest single off of Incubus's upcoming album Light Grenades (which is out Nov 28!). I must say I'm very excited to see where they go with this album. This single is very good, but for some reason does not hold the same weight as many of their others. We shall see, either way I'm excited, and i know no matter what their live show(s) will be amazing!

Fiona Apple - Sally’s Song

Someone had the amazing idea of gathering a bunch of high profile artists to try and cover songs from Danny Elfman’s UNBELIEVABLY well written/near perfect soundtrack to A Nightmare Before Christmas. Some of the other bands chosen to ruin this soundtrack are Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, and Marilyn Manson. Out of all of them, I must commend Fiona's version of this song though. It fits very well, sounds beautiful, and has just enough mix between the two (Danny Elfman's score/Fiona's musical style). I'm not sure why they did this, but the other bands in my opinion did NOT do a very good job.

Madvillain - Money Folder (Four Tet Remix)

MF DOOM and Madlib. The first line of this song is great "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone", and then the Jazz break 47 seconds in...wow. You have to love how creative these two are together...but then! on top of that you have Four Tet remixing all back together. YES

Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun

I don't have much to say about this song. Soundgarden was a great band, the cd that this was off of Superunknown had a couple of their greatest hits. Wish they were still around... oh well

Sufjan Stevens - Majesty Snowbird (live)

This is a live version of Sufjan Steven's song Majesty Snowbird, when he played at The Town Hall in New York City on September 29th. Words cannot describe how beautiful of a song this is, just listen and you will see. The full orchestra behind it make the song so majestic, its one of those songs that really gets inside of you.

Girl Talk - Overtime

Wow! This whole album (night ripper) is one of the most amazing mash-up collections I've ever heard of. Unique compilation, after/over unique compilation. It's almost to hard to listen to, because you find yourself trying to figure out what song snippet is playing. There are so many layered over each-other, though the whole theme of the cd is to get down and dance. Simply amazing! Clann Zú - 5000 More

Clann Zú is a unique and brillant group out of Melbourne Australia. Unfortunaly they are no longer together, but the works they left us with are amazing to say the least. How would you describe their sounds? Well they sound a bit rock, with a little irish splashed in (due in parts to the background vocalist Declan de Barra) and there is always an abundant amount of instrumentals used in each song. Shugo Tokumaru - The Mop

Happy Odd Japanese Classic Folk Music. There is something so peaceful, and tranquil about the music Shugo Tokumaru has aranged. I dont understand his lyrics, but I feel like through just the instrumentals themselves like I understand what he is saying.

Ben Folds - Such Great Heights (Postal Service)

I just realized that the last 2 songs I posted this week were also covers, So I guess this is a covers only week!!. This is an amazing cover of Such Great Heights which is originally performed by The Postal Service. What is unique about this cover, is not only Ben Folds style of singing, but more so the instrumental aspects of the song. The piano is unbelievable, I love how it walks you around the song, especially during the chorus. Bedlight For Blue Eyes - Jumper (Third Eye Blind)

Another cover off the Punk Goes 90s cd. This time we have Bedlight For Blue Eyes covering Third Eye blinds "Jumper". This is the first time I have heard of Bedlight For Blue Eyes, and I must say that they did a great job covering this song. The cover still retained all the qualities as the original, and yet still had something unique to offer the song.

Gym Class Heroes - Under the Bridge (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

This a great cover by the band Gym Class Heroes of the Song Under the Bridge by RHCP. It blends the perfect amount of hip-hop with rock. Very unique cover. This cover is featured on the cd Punk goes 90's.

Emery - Studying Politics

Great song to listen to after a break up. Its amazing how many times something like this "There’s that smile again (there’s that smile again) You fake it and I follow you right in.What a fool I've been To fall for it each time" happens. Lets all hope that in the end its like this "You’d like to think that you’re the best part of me But I confess there is nothing left of you here"

Sufjan Stevens - For the Widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti

Its hard to even say what is the best Sufjan Stevens song, all I know is that this is one of my favorites. Everything about it is magical, the banjo, the orchestral, the backup vocals, and of course his writing. Amazing on so many levels, he is one of the few artist I feel can completely tell a story giving it emotions, feelings, senses, and every aspect of being there when the thought of the song came to him.

Joanna Newsom - Cosmia

When i first heard of Joanna Newsom there was something about her that kept me coming back. The more i listened, the more i fell in love with her. Her music is so so beautiful, words could never describe it. She is amazing in all aspects, there really isnt much more i can say.
